It has been proven time after time that hugging is healthy. Hugs make us feel good, relieving stress and lowering our blood pressure. And since 2003, a woman named Elizabeth Laird has been doing her part to support the troops by hugging them before they leave for deployment at Fort Hood. Troops came to expect a hug from the sweet 83-year-old Elizabeth who became a local hero known as the “hug lady.” In her 12 years of hugging, she has given about half a million hugs to the troops! But then one day, she wasn’t there. Elizabeth had been battling breast cancer and needed to be hospitalized. So how did the troops respond? Watch the video and see for yourself… the outpouring will definitely warm your heart!
