Just a couple weeks ago, a bloodbath occurred directly in front of the doors of the famous São Paulo Cathedral.
A young woman is on her way to the bank as she is ambushed by the armed Luiz Antonio da Silva and taken as hostage. The man with the pistol, who has spent a total of 22 years in prison for theft and assault drags the dark-haired woman brutally to the hard marble ground. He holds the pistol to her head while the woman screams for her life.

The dangerous man holds the woman in a chokehold for an entire hour while hundreds watch. The police don't dare to intervene, out of fear of endangering the hostage. But suddenly someone lunges at the armed assailant from out of nowhere: it is the 61-year-old homeless Erasmo Francisco Rodrigues de Lima. Erasmo and the hostage taker fight with each other - and the young woman is able to flee. But during the wrangling Luiz Antonio shoots the fearless rescuer in the chest.

The police exploit the chance to bring the hostage to safety and gun down the assailant. Luiz Antonio da Silva, who supposedly had just finished praying in the cathedral 20 minutes prior, dies on the stairs. The fearless hero Erasmo watches - barely able to stand - while the large blood spot on his chest spreads. Then he collapses on the church door.

As the police storm the scene, it is already too late: the heroic homeless man is dead. Killed while saving a woman he didn't even know. Thousands are unbelievably touched around the world by this selfless action: they call for a proper burial to honor this man after his death.

Here you can see the video as witness to this gruesome hostage crisis in São Paulo:

What a terrible bloodbath. Erasmo Francisco deserves a full state funeral and to be celebrated as a hero. Help this to happen by sharing this unbelievable story from Brazil. Perhaps it will inspire others to be heroes like Erasmo.
