When Emma was born, her mother Jo Lynam was terrified. She was worried that her daughter Emma would never have a normal life. She was born with a cleft palate, hearing loss, autism, and, in addition, Down syndrome. The odds were stacked against Emma from the beginning.

"Emma is a beautiful 21-year-old, who loves music loves to dance and happens to have Down syndrome," tells her mother. "If Emmy could read or write, everything would be all right. But she can't. She can't read or write." But, as it turns out, it is Emma's disability that makes her the perfect candidate for a job that most people would dread:

In the U.S., the jobless rate for adults with disabilities is 11.3% compared to 5.5% for those without. As Jo Lynam says, it is important for everyone to be able to "stand on their own two feet" and be a part of the community. In the end, we all want to contribute.  And to top it all off: what a great name! Emma has such a great sense of humor.

Here is Emma, standing in front of her "company car." It's simply incredible what can happen when one person gives you a chance.

That is why it is important to share this story and raise awareness about people with disabilities. For "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Help others to realize their potential, regardless of the obstacles, by sharing this story.
