It all began when the Brit Zoey Wright started feeling tired. All the time. Then, the 21-year-old loses 25 pounds without trying. That's when she heads to the doctors, worried. The diagnosis: ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammation of the colon which compulsively causes diarrhea, intestinal bleeding, and worst of all, constant and excruciating pain. 2 years later Zoey decides in favor of a colectomy, creating an artificial opening for her intestines.

But, the Brit from Cornwall doesn't plan to let her life be stopped by a disease. Instead, she decides to become - a bodybuilder! Thanks to rigorous training with her boyfriend Conor and a strict diet, the 22-year-old undergoes an unbelievable transformation in just a few months. "I don't want to sugarcoat it. Training for a bodybuilding competition is already hard for normal people, but when you have a chronic disease, it's a nightmare," tells Zoey. "But when you have a passion, nothing can stop you!"

Just 10 months after the operation, Zoey competes in her first bodybuilding contest - with the full awareness that she won't be able to hide her colectomy bag while wearing such a small bikini. "I have such a fear of showing my bag to the whole audience," admits the young woman before her appearance. "But it's time to show the world that a chronic illness can't stop you from achieving your dreams!"

And that's exactly what happens: Zoey wins the competition and has automatically qualified for the bodybuilding world championships! "I'm still on Cloud 9, I'm overwhelmed. It feels like a dream!" delights the muscle lady. But she didn't just win. Zoey has shown others who suffer from the same disease that they don't have to be ashamed of anything.

"Whenever I feel bad I turn that into motivation," says Zoey. "Yes, this illness took my colon and changed my body, but why should it change who I am? Bodybuilding helped me get through it all and it will stay that way."

Zoey Wright is an unbelievably strong woman - in all respects. The 22-year-old isn't letting her life be determined by her incurable disease. Rather she is following her dreams and is a role model for others. When this Brit also completely floored you, then share this wonderful story with everyone you know! It will give them strength.
